About Us
Better Bourbon Corporation is a craft micro-distillery based in California. Born from the mind of Jake Genius.
It all started with my paternal grandma. She showed her love through cooking which she passed on to me. I knew I had to pursue cooking after my Thanksgiving turkey recipe surpassed my grandma's. My family declared I prepare the turkey every year since then.
I decided to go to culinary school to hone my love of feeding those I love. I soon realized that the traditional way was not for me. I was craving for something different. I always knew I wanted to craft something and it would take years until I found my passion for distilling.
In the beginning, I ventured into artisan ice cream which I sold at the local farmer's market. I created ice cream flavors like buttered popcorn, maple bacon, and fruity cereal. I learned the fresher the ingredients, the better the product. That led me to horticulture.
I've grafted fruit trees, grew various vegetables, and feminized strains for one of the leading seed banks in the country.
Having access to a variety of ingredients with the knowledge of what it takes to cultivate from seed to fruition, I then dabbled into wine making and beer brewing, creating beer flavors like Orange Creamsicle Wheat Beer, Perfectly Pear'd Pilsner, and Raspberry Ripple Wheat. It was inevitable that my journey would take me to become a distiller.
I wanted to create liquor that no one had experienced before. Many times I've taken a swig or shot of liquor, be it top-notch XO or Blue Label, I dreaded the taste and burn down the throat.
Researching and experimenting with what tastes and smell pleasing to me, we came up with our first line-up of spirits: Blueberry Brandy, Butter'd Scotch, Tirami-Wiskey, Peanut Butter & Jelly Whiskey, and the JD Killer.
All my experiences, the detours, the set-backs, all the sweat, blood, and tears finally paid off. We entered our first competition and won bronze in the 2025 SAN FRANCISCO WORLD SPIRITS COMPETITION.

We hope you enjoy our spirits. Don't settle for the swill dominating the market. There's a better choice, a Better Bourbon.
Cheers!
